Continental Consolidation
CMA CGM is set to acquire FedEx Supply Chain for $1.4 billion, significantly expanding the French carrier’s contract-logistics presence in the United States. The transaction will bring approximately 34 million square feet of warehouse capacity, 10,000 employees, and an established North American distribution network into CEVA Logistics, CMA CGM’s logistics subsidiary.
Following the acquisition, CEVA’s regional footprint is expected to exceed 240 locations and 20,000 employees. The deal reflects CMA CGM’s continued push beyond ocean freight into integrated warehousing, fulfillment, transportation, and supply chain management. CMA CGM will also provide ocean transport and carrier services through a nonexclusive agreement with FedEx.
For shippers, the move signals further consolidation among global transportation and logistics providers. It could create broader end-to-end service options while reshaping capacity, partnerships, and competitive dynamics across key U.S. lanes.
