Port Strike Has Begun

Dockworkers at 36 ports from Maine to Texas have begun striking over automation concerns and wage disputes. The strike, led by 45,000 members of the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA), comes after failed negotiations with the U.S. Maritime Alliance. The union seeks a complete ban on automation, along with wage increases to offset inflation. The strike threatens to disrupt the nation’s supply chain, particularly if it extends beyond a few weeks, as this could lead to shortages and price hikes for goods such as bananas, cars, and toys, especially with the holiday season approaching. Importers and exporters are bracing for delays, and rerouting traffic to West Coast ports isn’t a viable option to absorb the impact.

TLC is staying ahead of this potential supply chain bottleneck by working closely with our partners to adjust freight schedules and explore alternative shipping routes. We’re ready to help you navigate the disruptions and keep your operations running smoothly. Contact us today to ensure your freight remains on track.
