Port Strike Fallout

The ILA’s three-day strike across major East and Gulf Coast ports spared the trucking sector from major freight rate disruptions but left lingering effects that continue to ripple through logistics networks. With intermodal freight representing under 10% of U.S. freight, the limited impact reflects the strike’s brevity. However, container dwell times and rail congestion are up, with carriers redirecting shipments through other U.S. and Canadian ports to maintain movement. DHL Global Forwarding expects up to a month before operations normalize.

Compounding this situation, seasonal weather disruptions—particularly Hurricanes Helene and Milton—are pushing trucking spot rates higher, adding volatility to an already strained supply chain. In response, TLC is prioritizing adaptive logistics, leveraging contingency routes and staying ahead of delays to support smooth transit.  Reach out to discuss how TLC is ensuring your freight moves seamlessly amid these challenges.
