E.V. Charging Station Sticker Shock
The rapid development of EV charging stations for both passenger vehicles and freight trucks faces a substantial obstacle: the high “soft costs” that make these projects difficult to manage and expensive to execute. Soft costs, such as permitting, inspections, utility connections, and administrative tasks, often rival the cost of the charging equipment and real estate itself. To address this issue, the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) is conducting a comprehensive study to quantify these soft costs and help stakeholders develop more cost-effective strategies for future infrastructure projects. This effort will be crucial for mitigating expenses and accelerating the build-out of EV charging networks across the U.S.
TLC is actively following this study to ensure that our freight operations remain aligned with evolving EV infrastructure trends. As these changes unfold, we are preparing our clients for a smoother transition to electric-powered logistics. Contact us today to see how we’re adapting to these new challenges in EV infrastructure and ensuring your freight keeps moving efficiently.
